Play TogetherProf. Quibble has gone. Mid-experiment, as usual, without telling anyone. What he left is a compound on the master bench with opinions about the future — and at 23:40 the sub-basement's containment protocol decided it had seen enough. The seal dropped: it locked the cold store, cut the feeds between the two rooms, and started the purge. When it finishes, the night's work goes with it — and you are both stuck down here till somebody notices in the morning.
THE DEPARTMENT OF UNLIKELY CHEMISTRY
SUB-BASEMENT ◇ PROF. ÆLFRIC QUIBBLE (ABSENT)
STATUS ◇ CONTAINMENT — PURGE CYCLE COUNTING
TIME ◇ 23:40
The door
The two of you were the only ones still in. One of you is at the bench. One of you is in the cold store, on the wrong side of a door that is now a containment door — and a containment door cannot be opened single-handed. That is the entire point of a containment door. It opens from both sides at once, or not at all.
The one rule
Get the other player on the phone and keep talking. You each see a different room, and each of you is looking at things the other one needs — Quibble did leave instructions, he always leaves instructions; he has simply never, in his entire life, kept them all in one notebook. Say what you see. Read things aloud. Neither of you gets out alone.
